 Out of Work Experience:

During my lifetime, I have experienced the launch of the consumer PC market, right from the start with the ZX Spectrum, through to the dual Xeon 3.2GHz machines that we have today. In this time, I gained experience programming Basic (in all its many forms), C, some assembler and many other programming languages. I have worked with operating systems in many different areas having understanding and a good knowledge in: MS-DOS, Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP home and XP professional. I have some networking experience, both from using networks at home for gaming and remote internet access, and from a professional capacity while working at Minimould with Windows NT and 2000.

During my school years, I have spent some time studying the Microsoft Office Suite, so I am fluent in the use of Word, FrontPage, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook and Outlook Express. Wishing to expand my knowledge further before coming to University, I studied the use of CAD software such as Solidworks, AutoCAD and Pro Engineer. At university I have studied C++ and JAVA, being awarded A grades in both of these modules, and after learning about JAVA and its applications, I became interested in Web Scripting Languages such as Javascript, PHP and ASP. To see a list of all software packages that I am fluent or have knowledge of please click here.

I have designed many websites and used a wide variety of scripting methods and software packages to aid me in these tasks. In my final year at Brunel, I chose to develop a web-based material and process management system (CRP) which is available for demonstration on request. For this I studied PHP and MySQL a great deal and feel that I am competent in both of these languages. To view my website portfolio please click here.

Interests:

I enjoy attending twice-yearly teaching sessions at Stowe School as a Neighbourhood Engineer. This involves using engineering techniques and mathematics to resolve everyday problems in the engineering industry. These skills must then be taught to a class of approximately 40 pupils aged 14-17 years, with several classes competing against each other for the best solution, which is judged on novelty, economy and time management. I find this very rewarding and thoroughly enjoy working with young people, helping to show them how Engineers contribute to society and how everyday items and structures are designed.

My other hobbies include reading, playing chess, bike riding, squash and computer gaming.
